Believing that a well informed populace is essential to a healthy democracy, we initially intended DC Digest to be a site that could help people understand the complex bills being debated in Congress. Our concept was to remove the jargon, eliminate the repetition, and translate those often massive documents into readable abstracts that would be accessible to the average person.
Once we started skinnying down Congressional legislation, we thought it would be helpful to do the same for Presidential Orders. Then we decided to add Supreme Court rulings and federal regulations into the mix. Before long, DC Digest grew into a one-stop-shop for all manner of information about the three branches of the Federal Government; Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
From our beginnings as a repository of legislative abstracts, DC Digest has evolved into a single source to find clear answers to the questions of who, what, and where in Washington, DC
- Who is running the country: bulletized bios provide details of the nation's leaders. No gossip, no bias, just facts
