Executive Orders

Executive Orders

An Executive Order is a directive from the President that has the force of law.  They do not require Congressional approval and cannot be overturned by Congress. Although Congressional legislation can impact the ability to implement the order, only a sitting President can cancel, revoke, or modify Executive Orders.
